(any other species, if a member gets distracted from what is the main priority, will get eaten immediately)

and we have it big time !!!!

so do not feel alone.

everyone gets distracted. and looks for ways to be more distracted (procrastination)

there is no easy fix.

the fix can only come slowly over time.

there is no one solution.

some of these ideas may help:

write down the one most important thing you need to do.

(don’t scare yourself away by making a long list)

then do that one.

then write down the next one.

then do that one.

etc. One at a time

promise to yourself that when you start something, you finish it.

no stopping in the middle. for anything.

reward yourself each time you do that one thing to completion.

reward with something you really like.

find someone else who also needs to do things.

you each do your “one” at the same time….

any of these sound good?

I’ve decided that editing a video everyday will be the first important thing I will be working on.

I heard that it helps to do one thing that you find important or productive, first thing in the morning because it helps you develop a momentum to being more productive throughout the rest of the day. Even if you aren’t productive for the rest of the day, AT LEAST you got to do ONE thing productive that day. That way, you don’t feel you’ve wasted your day. You can develop more productive habits from there on. I’ve done this before, for about a week and I can say that it really did help me improve on levels of productivity.

YAY for taking it in small and easy steps, one by one!

For those that have a list of things they’d like to do but have trouble picking out what they should start on first, I really suggest picking the easiest thing to do on your list. I had two things on my list: waking up early everyday and editing a video everyday. Waking up early everyday is something that intimidates me a lot more than editing a video everyday. So if I went on and chose waking up early everyday, I would have a lower probability of actually doing it. So instead, I chose to edit a video everyday because I will have a higher probability of accomplishing it. Ira said that was a good idea because “nothing breeds confidence like success“.

Also, I will be doing it as a trial for 2 weeks. Defining the goal and giving it some kind of timeline really helps in giving you a higher probability of accomplishing it, me thinks. My objective is to making it a habit while also building more confidence in the self-discipline sector. Reassuring and letting myself know that I CAN DO IT!

Also, it really helps to define in detail WHY accomplishing that goal is important to you. I found that during the time I was most ambitious and got the most things accomplished and done, I had a very clear and defined reason of why I was doing it. I wasn’t doing it, just because, I was doing it because it had a lot of meaning to me and so I had more drive and motivation to do it!

So, why should I edit a video everyday? Well for one, it will definitely help me drastically improve on my filming and editing skills. The better my skills are in filming and editing, the more opportunity of work I will receive and the higher pay I may charge for it! I will also get to meet and become friends with other videographers and people in the scene too! So that’s a big plus! I can also upload those clips on youtube and help other people who are interested in filming and editing too! Another very big plus!

I’ve noticed that the most successful people have a very big passion for the things they do. And to have passion for the things you want to do, you must have meaning behind it! Why are you doing it? How will it make you feel once you accomplish it? What will you gain once you accomplish it?

It took me around 8 hours to edit this video, 8 hours including the whole viewing and selection process for deciding which clips we wanted to include in the video. We didn’t use that many shots in this video, but boy was the selection process long… This is seriously the video I am most proud of!

I used my Canon Rebel t3i and 50mm f/1.8 most of the time (seriously one of the cheapest dslr videography setup). I believe all of the shots in this video was actually used with the 50mm. It’s a very cheap lens that I really do recommend including in your kit!

I didn’t do much editing in terms of color grading and effects, all I really did was turn a shot black and white using the effect “calculations (highly recommend)” in premiere. And slow-motion for most of the clips. No fancy color grading or contrast/brightness or filters whatsoever. Oh wait, actually I used a certain blending mode called “pin light” (I believe) for the last shot with the crowd and shot of Mehdi on top of each other. But that’s about it!

Please watch in high quality: 1080p, 320p doesn’t do any video justice. This was a quick video I shot and edited for Amanda Darling when she was DJ’ing one night. I’ve only been doing club stuff since March 2012 but I get better with each video I complete. I edited most of this video in about 2 hours while I was on a plane to Philly! Ahaha, you can get so much productive things done while you’re flying, I swear. Reason is that you’re isolated miles in the clouds and you have no where to go and nothing much to do except sleep, read, or work with whatever you brought on board. I always bring my laptop fully charged up with me so that I can work on things for those couple of hours of flight.

I film a LOT but once I lay footage around for too long, I forget about it and don’t get around to editing it. Which is a habit I will be ridding myself of. I learned a lot from just actually finishing this video (what shots to get, what shots not to get, how long I should get certain shots, etc). So even if you think the footage you shot isn’t up to par and don’t want to finish it because you think it’ll look bad anyway, just DO IT! Along the way of editing it, you will learn the mistakes you made and take note of trying to not do it again! Trust me, I learned SO MUCH from my mistakes.

How will you ever learn from your mistakes and not make them again if you don’t go back and inspect what you did exactly, in the first place?

Event Videography Tip: The thing about club (or any type of event, really) videography is that you have to be very quick on your feet and spontaneous. It is quite difficult to plan your shots because you don’t know what exactly will happen, someone might decide to crowd surf and you might be somewhere too far to capture it, who knows? All I know is that you have to always keep yours eyes peeled for the money shot when you’re not currently getting a shot. And you got to be prepared and ready and fire when you need to.

I took these photos of her while we were in Hollywood back in November and decided to test my creativity and photoshop skills. I wanted to help her catch this particular manager’s attention so I made this sexy edit for her. It took me around 30 minutes to an hour, haven’t touched photoshop in that creative of a manner for a couple years.

I know the mirror effect has been overplayed for awhile now, but I can’t help it! I think it gave this picture a lot more flair, especially how that diagonal line turned into a triangle once it was mirrored! Pay close attention to your background while you’re taking photos so that you can spot interesting pieces that would look amazing once it was mirrrored! Take a shot at it!

It was a quick and easy shoot right before I headed out to Malibu with my boyfriend Mike Minneman to hang out with Neil Strauss and friends.

In the beginning, Sophia noticed that she was getting friend requests from people that sold vintage clothes online, which gave her the thought, “Hey, I can do the exact same thing”.  She’ had been working really hard since she was young, by the time she opened up her ebay store at the age of 22, she had worked at 10 retail stores. Now Nasty Gal has grown into a company with 110 employees with sales reaching $128 million this year, all of this and more in just the 4 years she had invested.

Here are some of the really notable and helpful things that is business related that she had said that I got a lot of value from.

Tips from Sophia Amorusa:
- She would buy something for cheap on ebay and flip it 3-5 times, she would ALWAYS sell it for more than she had bought it

- She had an abundance mindset, she says that it’s not an impossible task to sell something, if an item wasn’t selling as much, she would stop using the other model and pick up another model to wear it and make it more popular

- She still does the same now, where if an item wasn’t selling as much, she’d tell them to
choose one of the more popular models to sell it, and the item would end up being a top seller 400 per week

- They’d always buy stock that was limited in production, that way, their inventory would sell out and they’d keep on updating it with new stuff, keeping their wardrobes fresh, not stale (it’s also motivation to keep on looking for new trends and staying hip so that they never grow un-hip)

- One of the important and most notable thing she did that’d make her ebay store stand out more was the way she composed and presented the garment she was selling, she would take really nice pictures of one of her pretty friends in the garment being sold

- When she wasn’t working on her store, she would expand her reach by adding hipster looking people on Myspace and facebook and then market towards them

- Later in the game she would use friend finding software to add friends that are mutual friends with Nylon Magazine (targeting niche crowd)

- Her pitch would be like, “We’ll make your brand cooler”

- She was very big on her social media platforms, and would transfer her “likes” into customers

I’m proud of myself on this video! I shot it in a bit under an hour. Along with edited it in an hour! I think the product is DEFINITELY really good for doing both tasks in around an hour!
