First Proud Melody

SO I MADE THE FIRST MELODY THAT I’M ACTUALLY PROUD OF JUST NOW!!! I am absolutely in LOVE with this synth app! I decided to do more research about the AKAI MPK61 controller that I really wanted and checked out the official akai site to see what other products they had. They had this Synth Station app on the iPhone for 1.99 so I took the chance and bought! I messed around with it for a bit and then made an awesome but simple little melody that I decided to transcribe onto ableton!! WOWOWOW IM SO HAPPY WITH MYSELF RIGHT NOW!! I’m on the road to producing some sick tunes that I will be proud of!!

I really like nostalgic synthy sounds! I’m going to see if I can mix that up with some aggressive sounds! I love contrasting textures that somehow blend very well together!! Walking paradoxes!!

To Meet Tokimonsta

And so, Trevor gave me the great idea of making an awesome video to this song of Tokimonsta. I told him that I wanted to become friends with her and he said, why not get her attention by making a video of this song for her? I was like, SHIT, that’s one of my skills of value! I’m going to capture her attention and create a video of this song!

I picture lots of good hole in the wall shots of LA, cute faces of children from LA, ice cream trucks, afternoon walks throughout downtown, vertical scans of the skyscrapers and buildings. The fancy city life juxtaposed with the more urban neighborhoods. Shots from the May Day General Strike.

That’s what I have visualized whilst hearing this song!

I should have day and night shots also! Wandering around during club hours!

Inspiration from Rusko

So I decided to scratch my own itch and produce music. I’ve been bickering about the innovative things producers can do with the dubstep genre because I’m tired of hearing the same wobbles or the same skrilly-esque sounds in tracks that are released these days.

WE NEED MORE INNOVATION!!! I’m most likely going to branch off from dubstep, actually, I don’t even know what kind of genre I’m going to delving into, MAKE MUSIC, NOT GENRE!!! I’m just going to concentrate on producing music that I like the sound of. I want to incorporate a lot of orchestral strings in it. I have this strong attachment to classical strings such as the violin and cellos along with traditional oriental strings out of all of those strings I’ve personally only played the zither. I’m thinking of asking my mother to buy me a zither once she’s in Vietnam so that I can sample sounds off of that!

I’m going to be so addicted to sampling!!! It’d probably be my forte because I usually always pick out certain sounds and particular but subtle quirks that I like in songs that I listen!

Ahhh! I found this video of Rusko talking about his production process and he touches up on some VERY KEY elements and tips that give his tunes a BADA-BING-BADA-BOOM!!

I need to remind myself that I have to be patient and keep on learning how to use programs. I should not give up feel frustrated just because I am not able to figure out the program right away!

YOU CAN DO THIS DAN TAM. YOU CAN FREAKING DO IT.
YOU’RE GOING TO DO IT. AND YOU’RE GOING TO PRODUCE SOMETHING SICK (for a person just learning) BY THE END OF THIS WEEKEND. YES………….? YES!
